Open birdsong archive

Birdsong
should be free.

Most recordings are locked in private collections and research archives. We're building the first open library of domesticated canary song — with everyone who believes sound belongs to the world.

Free Accesscommunity built

Birdsong should be open: to listen to, to study, to remix, to experience. Not restricted, not hidden, not gatekept.

A shared space where recordings are freely accessible, explorable, and alive with community — not just stored in a database.

No open library of domesticated canary song exists yet. We're choosing to build it openly — with the people who believe it should exist.

From archives to access. From isolation to shared experience. If you believe sound should be free and alive, you're already part of this.

Keeping the archive alive.

Financial support keeps the server, database, and website running so the archive remains available without paywalls. It also helps us build recording devices and distribute them to breeders and canary owners, so more songs can be recorded carefully and added to the shared dataset.

Support the infrastructure

Contribute with sound.

A second way to support the project is to record your canary or host one of our recording devices near your cage. If you are interested, send us an email so we can stay in contact and help you contribute.
